CropLife Latin America President, José Perdomo, highlighted that in 2023, arguments based on science and the principles of assessment and risk management of agrochemicals resonated with regulatory authorities in several countries. This prevented important phytosanitary products for pest control from being restricted or eliminated from the region.

In the video summarizing the associations's achievements during 2023, José Perdomo also emphasized management efforts to promote innovation and good agricultural practices as essential conditions for advancing towards more sustainable agriculture. These topics are also part of the joint agenda maintained by CropLife Latin America with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, IICA.

Promoting obstacle-free trade and raising multiple concerns about the negative impact of policies from the European Green Deal on Latin American agro-exportations were other fronts on which the CropLife Latin America team focused in 2023.

Support for the Latin American Alliance against Smuggling, ALAC, and training for authorities to strengthen actions against illegal trade remained on CropLife Latin America's agenda and the network of associations.

In 2023, the farmer training program, CuidAgro, focused on training instructor teachers with special emphasis on Central America and the Caribbean. This achievement was made possible thanks to the alliances of National Associations that provide support for Good Agricultural Practices and the promotion of Integrated Pest Management.

Twelve new collection centers for pesticide empty containers were added to the CampoLimpio program in the region in 2023. With the support of the Association Network, over 400 collection centers were georeferenced on an interactive map that not only facilitates access but also allows for measuring the program's impact in Latin America. José Perdomo finally highlighted the celebration of CropLife Latin America's 25th anniversary alongside affiliated associations and companies, renewing the commitment to sustainability and agricultural innovation.
